Zachary Nathan Dunn
Of Lansing, MI, and formerly of Bradenton, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the age of 29. Zach was born on April 5, 1997, in Sarasota, Florida, the son of Roger and Kimberly (Bywater) Dunn.
From a young age, Zach was recognized as being highly gifted and was enrolled in gifted classes, where he quickly excelled. His extraordinary intellect and natural curiosity led him to develop a deep fascination with the universe. As he grew older, his passions centered around astrophysics, black holes, solar systems, and planets. He loved to read and had an exceptional mind for mathematics and science. He was also a computer whiz who enjoyed exploring and understanding the world of technology.
Zach also had a deep appreciation for music. During high school, he played the double bass in the orchestra and enjoyed writing music of his own. He was also dedicated to the art of Tae Kwon Do, where his hard work and discipline earned him a black belt.
Zach will be deeply missed by his loving parents, Roger and Kimberly Dunn; his sister, Carolann Dunn; niece and nephew, Grace and John Whitacre IV; grandparents, Donald and Phyllis Bywater, Jacqueline Johnson, and Susan Dunn; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
A private memorial celebration of Zach’s life will be held.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Zachary’s memory are encouraged to make memorial contributions to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
