Steward G. "Stew" Webb Obituary (1950 - 2017)

Steward G. Webb, age 66, of Charlotte passed away on March 1, 2017. He was born to the late Steward and Jean Webb on April 4, 1950. Steward was the owner of Stew's Auto Trim in Eaton Rapids and a Vietnam Veteran. Steward died from a service related death surrounded by his family at home. Steward traveled the world as a decorated serviceman during his military career, but his true talent was in restoring classic cars to their original beauty. He began his career as an auto trimmer while still in High School and returned to that passion upon his homecoming from Vietnam. Aficionados would come from miles around to bring their nostalgic treasures to him, knowing that they would be revitalized in a way that only he could. He met many customers throughout his years in business, and each one left his shop as a friend. His life is etched in each piece of material he has sewn together and with each friend he met along the way. While he appreciated his value in his career, his love for his family was where he truly shined. Known to some as "S.G.", others as "Uncle Toot", but his most endearing title bestowed upon him was most definitely "Paw". He enjoyed spending time with his seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He spent weekends camping and fishing with them, his grill was always ready for family on Saturdays and Sunday morning breakfast wasn't complete without bacon. He had an answer for every question, and it was usually one that made you laugh. As a dedicated Lions and Tigers fan, he loved spending time watching sports in any season. His casino trips were the highlight of his days after he retired from his life's work, and Double Diamonds were his favorite. Survived by his loving wife of more than 39 years, Cindy Webb, his sons Shane (Misook) Webb and Scott Taylor, his daughter Crystal (Greg) Phillips, Grandchildren Tonya (Riley) Kirkpatrick, Minah Webb, Lily Taylor, Julia, Jenna, and Ryan Phillips, and Theadora Taylor, his sister Vickie Dennis, his great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his Parents, his sister Judith Ridge, and his brother Robert "Ed" Webb. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Charlotte Assembly of God. Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. with the service at 6:00 p.m.
