Steve Ray Schaub

Of Eaton Rapids, MI, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the age of 69. Steve was born on September 27, 1957, in Lansing, MI, the son of Sylvester and Helen (Pobuda) Schaub. He was raised in Lansing and graduated from Everett High School with the class of 1975.

Steve dedicated 26 years of his career to Michigan State University, where he began working as a cook before eventually retiring from the floor care department. Beyond his professional life, Steve found great joy in caring for and serving others, especially within his church family at South Lansing Christian Church. He was known for his outgoing personality and wonderful sense of humor. Steve loved to tease those closest to him and had a special way of bringing laughter and joy to any situation. In his free time, he enjoyed horse racing, cheering on his beloved MSU Spartans, and spending time on the golf course.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharon Hamilton.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 36 years, April (Thiemkey) Schaub; daughter, Angel; grandchildren, Charlie, Steven, Milana and James; brothers, Victor (Linda) Schaub, Gary (Joyce) Schaub, Douglas (Virginia) Schaub, and Jeffery (Michelle) Schaub; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at South Lansing Christian Church. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 AM and host a light luncheon immediately following the service. The family requests that friends wear green and white in honor of Steve and his love of MSU. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the church in memory of Steve.
