Charlotte, Michigan

Russell Joe Brown Sr.
Charlotte, MI formerly of Lansing, MI

Passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the age of 71. Born April 28, 1954 to Jack and Marjorie (Hilliker) Brown in Lansing, Michigan. Russ honorably served in the US Army and National Guard. While stationed in the Army he excelled as a boxer and table tennis player. He was offered an opportunity to compete in Japan against other countries best players in table tennis. Following his honorable discharge, Russ went on to work for General Motors where he was a Union Representative and represented the Local UAW #602. Russ appreciated the simple things in life and enjoyed fishing, camp fires, and spending time at the family property on Island Lake in Gladwin. He was an avid MSU fan and especially enjoyed watching football and basketball. His dog, Pony, held a special place in his heart. Russ used to buy burgers for Pony from the local McDonald’s so frequently that they made a special button for him in their system called the “Reg.10”. Most of all, he loved his family and every moment he was able to spend with them. He left us with a message: “Treat everyone with empathy and kindness”.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Derick Brown; sisters, Nancy (Robert) Theodorou, Cheryl (Terry) Tickner; sister-in-law, Debbie Brown, and brother-in-law, Jim Fish.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian Brown; children, Russell Joe (Stephanie) Brown Jr., William (Angel) Brown, Daniel Brown; his "stinkerbugs," Jessica (Josh), Russell III, Harrison, Merissa, Chelsea (Anthony), Hope (Chay), Marina, Elijah, Landyn, Carter, Alicia, Alyssa, Daniel II, Devin, Destiny; 16 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; brother, Roger (Deborah) Brown, Gary Brown; sister, Judy Fish; dog, Capone "Pony”; cats Dice and Mister, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
