Passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the age of 84. Born September 25, 1938 to William and Fredrika (Hawkins) Bentley in Astoria, Oregon. Bob was a college professor and worked at various universities and institutions throughout his career. His teaching career included positions at Pacific University, University of Reno Nevada, and Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Later he and his family moved to Grand Blanc, Michigan where he taught at both Mott Community College and UofM Flint. Finally, Bob and his family moved to East Lansing where he took an English and Linguistics position with Lansing Community College and later served as interim Dean before his retirement. Teaching was Bob's life and he continued in retirement with some online courses through the University of Phoenix, among others. Bob was loved by many and will be missed dearly by all who remember him. Bob's immediate family included his brother, Dale Bentley, sister, Patricia Schilling and his parents.

Surviving are his children, Glenn Bentley, Mark (Renee) Bentley, Carol (Tony) Bentley DeAugustine, Brian (Monica) Bentley, Kevin Bentley; 9 grandchildren as well as many extended family, colleagues, and friends.

A memorial reception will be held from 12:00 to 2:00PM on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Champps in Lansing (Eastwood Towncenter), Michigan.
