Raymond Roy Poyer
Of Eaton Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the age of 71. Ray was born on August 3, 1955, in Eaton Rapids, the son of Alden Poyer and Dora Eaton (Beeman), and was a lifelong resident of the Eaton Rapids area.
Ray truly enjoyed the outdoors and found great pleasure in hunting, fishing, trapping, and morel mushroom hunting. He especially enjoyed sitting at his kitchen table watching the wildlife around his home, taking delight in the deer and hummingbirds that visited his feeders. Ray was also an avid NASCAR fan and rarely missed the excitement of race day.
Beginning in 1993, Ray started a birthday tradition of roasting pigs and hosting pig roast parties for his family and friends. This tradition continued for 20 years and created many wonderful memories. Above all, Ray cherished the time he spent with those he loved, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Alden Poyer; stepmother, Dorothy Poyer; wife, Susan (Metzmaker) Poyer; brother, Duane Poyer; and sister, Nola Vantyle.
He is survived by his mother, Dora Beeman; daughter, Toni Poyer; grandchildren, Lyle Poyer, Nathan (Bre) Paton, and Molly Paton; great-grandchildren, Levi Bolan, Micki Paton, and Emersyn Paton; brother Dale Poyer; sister, Dawn (Keven) Richards, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and a great-nephew.
Ray will be cremated and laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Susan, in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamlin Township, at 10:30am on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
