Patrick "Charlie" James Boyd
Of Lansing, MI passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the age of 74. Charlie was born on December 21, 1946 in Ionia, MI the son of Albert and Juanita (Pixley) Boyd. He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School class of 1965. Charlie proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Vietnam, Germany and Japan. Upon returning home, he served as a Military Police Officer in Virginia. Charlie worked as a custodian for the Lansing Public Schools and retired from the State of Michigan as a corrections officer out of Jackson, Michigan. He was a devout member of the Wayside Chapel Ministries in Mason and volunteered with church custodial and maintenance for numerous years. Charlie was a huge Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed bowling until his health wouldn't allow it.
He is preceded in death by his parents and baby brother, Charles Boyd.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Bonnie (Young) Boyd; daughter, Colleen (Bill) Oxby; son, Dan (Angie) Boyd; grandchildren, Will Oxby, Karen Oxby, Dillon Boyd, Elizabeth Boyd, Morgan Boyd, Ivan Boyd and sister, Edie Helms.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Skinner Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel with a private service being held on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ingham County Medical Care Facility Foundation in memory of Patrick Boyd.
