Passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the age of 73. Born July 30, 1951 to Bryce and Dorothy (Holcomb) Thomson in Eaton Rapids, MI. She was a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Jill's loving spirit, creative flair, and infectious smile will forever remain in our hearts.

A proud graduate of Eaton Rapids High School Class of 1970, Jill furthered her education at Ferris State College, graduating from Cosmetology School in '72. She was a talented hairstylist, gracing the Lansing community with her artistry at Northwind Salon. Later she would go to work for Story Oldsmobile as a receptionist and then Jacobsons in Lansing as a retail manager before going to work for Lowes a sales associate and retiring in 2014. Her creative talent extended far beyond her work; she cultivated beauty in her garden. Jill enjoyed riding her bicycle and swimming for leisure. Her love for learning and cultural exchange led her and her husband, Bill, to host 17 high school foreign exchange students from 2003 to 2018, creating an extended global family.

Jill was a committed member of the University United Methodist Church in East Lansing, where her melodious voice graced the choir for many years. Her strong faith echoed the words of Psalm 100:2, "Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!" She lived this verse every day.

She is survived by her loving husband, William “Bill” Groth; her brother Brad (Marcia) Thomson; brother-in-law, Carl (Tonnie) Groth and her nieces and nephew, Lydia, Megan, Matthew, and Kristy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryce and Dorothy Thomson, who surely welcomed their extraordinary daughter with open arms in heaven.
