Mary Luise Slocum
Of Eaton Rapids, MI passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the age of 78. Mary was born on May 30, 1939 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of Winston and Mabel (Kleis) Kaercher. She moved to Eaton Rapids in 1976 and raised her family here. Being fond of children, she worked as a daycare provider while her children were young. Later she worked for MIOSHA, retiring after 25 years. Mary enjoyed folk music and jigsaw puzzles. She was a lover of animals, especially cats and birds.
Mary is preceded in death by her infant sons, Noel Damon and Devon John; husband, Ronald Slocum; parents; and brother-in-law, Leon Gemalsky.
Surviving are her daughters, Rachel Slocum, Rebecca Slocum; sister, Carol Mix and sister-in-law, Judy (Slocum) Gemalsky; her nieces and their children.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 10 at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids with a luncheon immediately following at the funeral home.
