Marquece Lyvette Manns Obituary (1935 - 2013)

My Journey... Marquece Lyvette Manns affectionently known as "Marky" was born to William and Daisy Thomas on October 11, 1935. Marky was raised in Evanston, Illinois and a graduate from Evanston Township High School. Marky transitioned from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on January 15, 2013 after a brief illness. Marky was preceded in death by: Husband of 47 years, Samuel Manns, Daughter, Carmen D. Manns, Mother, Daisy A.J. Thomas, Father, William R. Thomas, Eldest Sister, Layuna DuBois, Eldest Brother, Dr. Charles R. Thomas, Younger Brother, Owen L. Thomas Sr. and Younger Sister, Bettie Jean Thomas. As a Military wife, Marky often had to pack-up her family and move to different states to support her husband's military career. Marky had lived in Cherry Point, South Carolina to which Royce S. Manns was born, Oceanside, California to which Carmen D. Manns was born, Glenview, Illinois to which Lyvette A.J. Manns was born before finally settling in Lansing, Michigan to which Marquise L. Manns was born. Marky held the position of "Mother and Father" to four children while her husband served his country in the Vietnam and Korean Wars. Marky has held various positions at Meijers as well as Brookshire Apartments, Marky was always there to lend a helping hand, as well as a loving wife, mother, friend with that being said she and her husband sponsored a Brownie Troop, compliments of the United States Marine Corps to which all Brownie's received brand new cameras. In Marky's spare time, she enjoyed taking her sons camping frequently every year, along with fishing, bowling, gardening, she was also a member of the Waverly 39ers, while also enjoying being a member of Life Christan Church under the leadership of David Stephens. Marquece leaves her memory to be cherished by Lyvette Manns of Lansing, Michigan, Royce(Pamela)Manns of Lansing, Michigan, Marquise(Angela)Manns Dallas, Texas, Gloria(Terrance)Moses of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, along with 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Special thanks to Ruby Phifer,Guanta Orleans and Callie Hoard. The family wishes to thank LaTosha Manns for all of the goodies from Wendy's and extra-special companionship given on a daily basis, Christy, Michelle, Brianna and Amy along with Sparrow CCU Staff and McClaren Nursing Staff. Marquece Manns has touched the lives of many people with her beautiful smile, and warm and caring personality. It's important for everyone to know that her life has not ended, but has just begun. Many are called, but few are chosen, Marquece is one of the chosen few. Visitations at Skinner Funeral Home in Lansing on the 20th of January from 5pm-8pm and Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 21st at 11am at Life Christian Church.
