Margaret "Peg" Athy Obituary (1949 - 2023)

Margaret "Peg" Athy Lansing Went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the age of 74. Born February 23, 1949 to Brant and Ruth (James) Doty in Detroit, Michigan. Peg worked in education in the Lansing area as a teachers aide for Dwight Rich, North Elementary, JW Otto, and Averill Elementary School where she retired. She joined South Lansing Christian Church in the 4th grade when her family moved to the area, and she was an integral part of the church for the rest of her life. She taught Sunday School and volunteered in many different capacities. Peg loved children and it showed in her life's work. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly by all who remember her. Preceding her in death were her parents and sister, Josie Broene. Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Brian Athy; sons, John (Amy) Athy, Timothy (Lyndi) Athy, Jeremy Athy; 5 grandchildren; sister, Sally Garman; brothers, Brant (Karna) Doty, Timothy (Louise) Doty as well as many niece and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at South Lansing Christian Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior for visitation.
