Luther "Butch" Hilliard Obituary (1945 - 2020)

Luther E. "Butch" Hilliard Mecosta, Michigan Went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the age of 75. Born July 24, 1945 to Luther and Mary (Jones) Hilliard in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Butch owned and operated Hilliard Masonry and Concrete Restoration in Lansing for many years. After retiring he and Janet moved to Mecosta where they could spend time in the outdoors. Butch enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and fishing but most of all deer hunting was his greatest passion. He was a faithful member of Mecosta Free Methodist Church for many years. Butch was also responsible for organizing family reunions and gatherings and took great pride in planning family holiday parties. Butch was all about family and making sure everyone had a good time. He was a beloved man that will be greatly missed by all who remember him. Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters, Brenda, Pat, Louise, Barbara and Edna. Surviving are his wife, Janet Hilliard; daughters, Joyce Days, Angela (Daniel) Gilpin, Sheila (Nick) Monroe; grandchildren, Sheena (Orion) Smith, Shaina Days, James Days, Jessica (Gregory) Farhat, Leesa Ziegler, Daniel (Kelly) Gilpin, Shane Monroe, Briana Monroe; great-grandchildren, Lucian Smith, Jonathan Ziegler, Anthony Ziegler, Luna Young, Xander Young, Olivia Martin, Sean Martin, Kytalynn Gilpin, Aryonna Gilpin, Henry Gilpin; sister, Frances Gann as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Skinner Funeral Home Lansing Chapel. Family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 1-5pm at the funeral home.
