Lora Joan Harris, 86, of Eaton Rapids, MI, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. She was born on May 17, 1938, in Wyandotte, MI, to Robert and Hazel (Edwards) Meyer.
Joan grew up in Wyandotte and graduated from Roosevelt High School with the Class of 1956. She married Clyde Harris in Ecorse, MI, and together they lovingly raised four children, first on a horse farm in South Lyon before making Eaton Rapids their home.
Joan worked as a stenographer for Michigan Bell for many years. A devout Christian, she was actively involved in her faith communities at Calvary Baptist Church in Ecorse, Fellowship Baptist Church in Whitmore Lake, and later Grace Baptist Church in Eaton Rapids. She found joy in singing in the choir, volunteering in the nursery, and teaching Sunday School. A gifted musician, she played both the violin and piano. In her younger years, she also enjoyed being part of a bowling league.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Jean (Edmund) Cupp. She is survived by her loving husband, Clyde Harris; children, Kim (James Craig) Buers, Janice (Dale Thomas) Staples, Greg and Mary Lou Dowding-Harris, and Jody Harris; grandchildren, Jason (Jacque) Buers, Amanda (Jason) Arabo, Carie Staples, Mari (Alejandro Kemper) Wyman, Ekaterina Harris, Victoria Wilson, and Johnny (Casie) Knaggs; great-grandchildren, Noah Buers, Liam Buers, Davina Arabo, Domonic Arabo, Ethan Kieffer, Jacob Wyman, Isaac Wyman, Rhys Wyman, Piper Marie Staples, and Amari Osumenya; siblings, David (Ann) Meyer, Dan Meyer, and Carol Meyer; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Grace Baptist Church in Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at noon. Those who wish to honor Joan’s memory may consider a donation to Grace Baptist Church.
