Went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 21, 2026 at the age of 99. Born July 11, 1927 to Frans and Maria (De Laet) Brems in Ruisbroek, Belgium. A loving, loyal, and talented woman, Julia leaves behind an unparalleled legacy filled with courage, love, and an unwavering commitment to her family and friends. Julia was known for her strength and tenacity. Moving to the United States with limited English, her determination led her to Lansing Community College, where she earned her CSR Tech certificate. She carried this meticulous attention to detail into her work at Ingham Regional Medical Center where she retired in 1995. Julia had also worked for L&L Food Centers in Lansing for many years as a sampler. Her rum balls were always a big hit with her co-workers around the holidays. Her life was not only defined by her professional accomplishments but also by her hobbies. Julia was a master gardener, a talent that mirrored her love of nature and beauty. Her gardens were a well-known artful display. Additionally, her skills as a masterful seamstress were renowned, and her cooking was a delight of every gathering. Julia was also a world traveler, her journeys reflecting her adventurous spirit and her curiosity about the world. Above all, Julia was a loving mother and a loyal friend that will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Preceding her in death were her husband, Roger Meersdom; 4 siblings; as well as her parents.

Surviving are her son, Dennis (April) Meersdom; grandchildren, Steven Meersdom, Ellen (Jason) Simmons, Joey (Olivia) Johnson; great grandchildren, Emmie and Alice Simmons as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Medilodge of Okemos for their unwavering care and the attention to detail given to Julia over the past 10 years.
