Passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2016 at age 88. Born March 16, 1928 to John and Elizabeth (Hendry) Penner in Detroit, Michigan. John was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army where he served as a Captain. He graduated with his Doctorate from UofM and served there as a Physician before transferring to MSU in 1980 where he was a Professor of Medicine and later retired as Chief of the Thrombosis and Hemostasis Division at MSU. John enjoyed sailing and spending time on Lake Michigan. Preceding him in death was his wife, Janet Penner.
Surviving are his daughters, Laurie (Mike) George, Kristen (Blair) Bullard and three grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan designated to Camp Bold Eagle, 1921 W.
