Age 84,died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte. The youngest of 13 children born to Martin and Eva (Lindsley) Owen. George served in the Navy as a CBUDT during WWII, stationed in Alaska. George had worked as a Die Setter for Diamond REO until their demise and later retired as a Driver for CATA from 1976-90. George enjoyed fishing and hunting and watching the birds. Preceding him in death were his parents; and siblings.
Surviving are his wife of 60+ years, Alice; 4 children, Herb (Sherri), Karen Scott, Brian (Joanne) and Martin (Lee); 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 3:00 PM from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with burial following in the Bunker Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made directly to the family in care of Alice Owen.
