Edwarda Ann Cornell Obituary (1932 - 2016)

Edwarda Ann Cornell Of Lansing, MI and formerly of Leslie, MI passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the age of 83. Ann was born on July 31, 1932 in Johnstown, PA the daughter of Leroy and Louise (Smith) Herendeen. She moved to Michigan and graduated from a one room school house in Leslie, MI. Ann married Melvin Cornell on February 24, 1956 and together they raised 5 children. She worked many jobs throughout her life including, running a day care out of her home, a newspaper substation for paper carriers, then transitioned to an independent contract driver for the Lansing State Journal, and was an employee of Celebration Cinema. Ann was very active; she was an avid bowler for many years, completed 3-DALMAC rides from Lansing to the Mackinaw Bridge in her 50's, loved participating in the Labor Day bridge walk, and in her later years enjoyed trips to various casinos. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin; brother Jim Galbraith; grandchildren, Bradley James Spence Jr, Sara Ann Cornell, Leila Ann Boelter. Surviving are her children, Michael (Jane) Parkinson, Rachel (Richard) Carlson, Melvin (Clara) Cornell Jr., Teresa (Harry) Fry, Brian (Annette) Cornell; brother Dale (Bonnie) Galbraith; sister, Janet (Daniel) Mooney; sister-in-law Maureen Galbraith; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and was anticipating the birth of a great great grandson. Private services for the immediate family will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing, MI.
