Dawn Marie Sedlar
Charlotte, MI formerly of Lansing
A loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister and friend to all who knew her passed away at the age of 56 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Charlotte, Michigan on May 3rd, 1968, Dawn's spirit soared free on Monday, August 5th, 2024. She was a vibrant, spirited, and adventurous soul who had a boundless enthusiasm for life. Dawn's heart was as vast as the ocean she loved so much, with a generosity that knew no bounds.
Dawn was a woman of many talents. In high school, she shone brightly on the basketball court and softball fields, even pitching a no-hitter, a testament to her competitive spirit and athletic ability. Following graduation from Potterville High School in 1986, she turned her passion for food into a successful career as a chef, serving the students of Michigan State University with love and care. Halloween was a particular delight for her, and her inventive costumes were always a highlight of the season and often won her and Wayne costume contests that they entered in. She was truly a loyal friend and a generous soul, whose thoughtfulness extended beyond her life, as she chose to donate her eyes so that others might see the beauty of the world.
Dawn was also well traveled, with a particular fondness for the beaches of Clearwater, Florida. The image of Dawn, drink in hand, basking in the sun, and ready for a boat ride, will forever be etched in our hearts. She was a lover of music, a fan of live concerts, and a creative crafter who gifted her creations to those she cherished. As Dr. Seuss once said, “To the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world.” Dawn was indeed the world to many, especially her beloved husband, Wayne Holmes; her father, Dennis Sedlar; mother and step-father, Georgeanna Jones and Floyd Jones; her children, Cody (Amanda Hicks) Bodo, Colt (Amie) Bodo; step-daughter, Stacy Holmes; grandchildren, Brandyn Tyler, Brennyn Tyler, Bentley Tyler, Ashtyn Bodo, Sophia Bodo, Colt Bodo Jr., Karter Bodo, Kayne Bodo, Georgia Bodo, Mason Hicks, Madison Bodo; sister, Kim (Matt) Partridge as well as numerous extended family and friends. Preceding her in death were her brother, Bryan Alton and step-son, Ryan Holmes.
