David Dudley Hastings
Mason, Michigan

Age 55, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026. He was born on December 22, 1970, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, to David and Sarah (Daggy) Hastings. Known affectionately as “Dave” or “Dudley” to his family and friends, Dave grew up attending Mason schools and went on to build a life centered around hard work, the outdoors, and the people and activities he loved. He was the proud owner of Hastings Farm Services, LLC, his own landscaping and snow removal business. Always on the go, Dave was an early riser who stayed busy from morning until night; sometimes staying up all night to complete tasks. He enjoyed tinkering with his loader and excavator equipment and could often be found working on one project or another; and as many of us know, starting a variety of projects all at once before finishing another.

For many years, Dave served as the Alaiedon Township Cemetery Sexton for Leek Cemetery. He took great pride in caring for the cemetery and considered it both a privilege and an honor to serve in that role. He was also always willing to lend a helping hand to local farmers during planting and harvest seasons, whether planting corn and beans or driving grain trucks.

Dave had a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter whether it was deer, rabbit, pheasant, geese, or coon hunting. His ultimate outdoor love was being a fisherman all year long. He had a 26’ Tiara fishing boat and traveled mostly up the Michigan west coast, with other travels to Lake Erie and Lake Huron, proudly saying he was under the Mackinaw Bridge. He participated in and enjoyed many fishing tournaments with his Mate Tom Bartlett, inherited a well-rounded circle of charter captain buddies, and Grand Haven port being his favorite. He enjoyed tending to his beef cattle, donkeys, chickens, and turkeys. He also had a passion for drag racing and loved taking his ’73 Chevelle to drag strips throughout Michigan. When he wasn’t working or enjoying the outdoors, Dave cherished spending quality time with his family and friends, loved to entertain and jamming to music with his JBL box, playing friendly games of horseshoes and cornhole, and cheering on his beloved Detroit Lions.

Dave was a hardworking man who found joy in staying busy, helping others, and doing the things he loved. His friendly nature and love of being around people made him someone who was loved by many. He leaves behind a lasting impression on all who knew him and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.

Surviving is his wife, Carolyn Hastings; son, Kyle (Brittany) Archer; grandchildren, Callahan and Marlowe Archer; parents, David Duane and Sarah Hastings; his golden retrievers Mandy and Cinnamon, as well as many extended family and friends. Preceding him in death were his brother, Todd Hastings.

A memorial gathering will be held in honor of Dave at a later date. To share memories and condolences please visit www.SkinnerFuneralHomes.com
