Darlena Mae McDaniel

–

Holt, MI

Darlena McDaniel (age 87), our heart and soul, made her final transition on March 16, 2017. Darlena loved her family and had a heart that welcomed all. Her house was a loving and safe place for so many over the years. She loved to learn and her curiosity lead her to so many different interest and hobbies, especially those that involved travel, nature and the outdoors. Whatever she became interested in she immersed herself completely. Anyone who has visited her house can bear witness to all of the cookbooks she has collected over the years as she became interested in another type of cuisine, all of the art supplies when she began painting and the books she has collected as an avid reader. Darlena was an enthusiastic genealogist and had a keen interest in tracing her family roots. She has probably already tracked down her long lost ancestors the Galloupe brothers to fill in some questions that she has long had in completing the family tree. Darlena is preceded in death by her husband Ted M. McDaniel, her parent's Alton B. and Mabel W. Galloup, brother Pete and wife "Sis" Galloup, brother Dick Galloup, brother in law Frank McDaniel, sisters in law Lois Sullivan and Shirley Fuller and her "adopted daughter" Judy Scutt.
She is survived by her sister Juanita Stokely, sister in law Betty Galloup, sister in law Ann Marie McDaniel, her four children Carol (Dave), Ted (Doreen), Elise "Annie", Anita (Shawn Brent) and six grandchildren, Dave, Dan, Luke, Chantal (Ben), Lacie (Joe), Jesse (Alisha) and five great grandchildren. Darlena has also been blessed to have the love of her "adopted" kids John Johnson, Vern Scutt, John Lucas, Dan Stevens and Carol Deady.
A memorial will be held for Darlena at the Mason/Holt Eagles at 12 noon on Friday March 24, 2017. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter's, Ingham County Animal Shelter Fund or Woldumar Nature Center in Darlena's name.
