Daniel Morris

Daniel Oscar Morris, of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the age of 77. Dan was born on December 13, 1948, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Robert and Clara (Robison) Morris. He was raised in Davison and graduated with the Class of 1967. Shortly after graduation, Dan married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Linn (Morrill) Morris, in 1968, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 58 years.

Dan began his career as a mechanic with Grand Trunk Railroad before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He spent one year stationed in Phu Bai, Vietnam, during his two years of service. Following his military service, Dan returned home and worked for General Telephone. He later served as Business Manager for IBEW Local 1106, representing members throughout the state of Michigan until his retirement in the mid-1990s. Dan especially enjoyed traveling for IBEW conferences, with Savannah, Georgia holding a special place among his favorite destinations.

Dan especially enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships that came through his love of golf. He was a talented woodworker, and a dedicated family man. He lovingly crafted treasured pieces for family members, including gun cabinets and quilt racks, often using reclaimed wood from family homes or trees from the family property. He deeply cherished his grandchildren and played an important role in helping raise them during their formative years. Some of the family’s happiest memories were made during camping trips to Silver Lake and summers spent on Gilead Lake.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby Morris.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linn Morris; children, Holly Morris, Laura Morris, and Bob Morris; grandchildren, Tasha Nelson and Devin (Lindsay) Nelson; great-granddaughter, Luna; brothers, Steven (Deb) Morris and Mike (Karen) Morris; sister, Susan (Dolf) Veit; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Allen Funeral Home in Davison, MI with visitation starting at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Dan.
