Loving mother and friend to all passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at age 76. Born December 9, 1937 to George and Clara (Piper) Hutchins in Lansing, Michigan. Catherine retired from Head Start where she worked as a bus driver. For many years Catherine and her husband raised several foster children. She enjoyed bowling, auto racing, the Detroit Tigers and Lansing Lugnuts. Catherine will be dearly missed and forever remembered for her great sense of humor. Special thanks go to her niece and nephew, Nancy and Dan Logan for the compassionate care they gave to Catherine. Preceding her in death were her husband, Neil Long; daughter, Bonnie, son, Terry; her parents and 2 sisters.
Surviving are her daughter, Susan (Martin Dunivon) Long; son, William (Alita) Long; grandchildren, David, Tia, Becky, Tracy, Tim, Bobby; 5 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Velma Long; special niece, Norma Dell; best friends, Rose and Bob Baley as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Skinner Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm.
