Amanda L. Alexis Obituary (1988 - 2017)

Amanda Alexis Of Eaton Rapids, MI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the age of 28. Amanda was born on October 29, 1988 in Lansing, MI the daughter of Philip Alexis Jr. and Terri (Gauna) Rhoads. She was a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School class of 2007. After high school Amanda worked at Four Winds Casino before moving to Florida where she studied Zoology at Sanford Brown Institute. She later moved back to Michigan and took Veterinary Technician classes at L.C.C. Amanda was passionate about animals and was a talented artist and crafter. She would do leather working, beading, custom jewelry, and painting. Amanda was proud of her Native American heritage and enjoyed attending and participating in tribal pow wows but her greatest joy and accomplishment in life was her son Kaleb who she loved and adored more than anything. Amanda is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Philip Alexis, Severo Gauna and cousin, Devon Gauna. She is survived by her 8 year old son, Kaleb; mother, Terri (Scott) Rhoads; father, Philip (Tracie) Alexis Jr.; brothers, Philip S. (Sara) Alexis, Scott Rhoads; sister, Kendall Alexis; grandmothers, Melody Alexis, Margie Gauna and several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family to set up a trust fund for Kaleb.
