Georgianna Groom Obituary (1924 - 2020)

Georgianna Groom Lansing, MI Passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the age of 96. Born April 15, 1924 to George and Ida (Seigel) McGlinchey in Flint, Michigan. Georgianna worked as a Registered Nurse where she retired from the Ingham County Medical Care Facility. In her early years she was a Civil Rights Advocate alongside her husband, Robert Groom. Georgianna enjoyed knitting, scrapbooking and traveling. She also liked playing cards in her younger days and later enjoyed word games that helped keep her sharp. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Georgianna would host family gatherings where she would cook and telling family stories that could be passed down for generations to come. She was a witty woman with a great sense of humor and she will be dearly missed by all who remember her. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert Groom; grandson, Geoffrey Nicols; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Bill Melzow, Mott and Beth Groom; mother and father-in-law, Ila and Ward Groom. Surviving are her children, Steve (Rhonda) Groom, Tom (Vicki) Groom, Marilyn Mays, Brian (Erin) Groom, Laura Nicols; grandchildren, Aimee Bowles, Pat (Barb) Groom, Sean Groom, Shannon Jones, Brenna (Brad) Fulcher, Caitlin Groom, Thomas (Kristin) Groom, Hannah Nicols; great grandchildren, Will, Jordan, Sam, Claire, Monroe, Maizey, Madison, Isabelle, Sydney, Moriah, Braden and Clayton.
